Reformation Brewing – Smyrna, GA

For as many times we have stopped in ATL, it always seems they have a new brewery or two. This stop is no different in that a brewery has popped up only 8 minutes from our truck stop. Located right on the Chattahoochee River in a newly developed suburb of ATL called The Eddy, this hip little tap room is connected to a deliciously smelling BBQ joint and serves up a nice seletion of beers. We tried the A Cold One german pils and the Reformation IPA and paired them with the Bacon and Buffalo popcorns. Yum.

Harpers Ferry Brewing – Purcellville, VA

So I’ve driven buy this brewery numerous times on my way to a client in WV and decided to check it out today. It’s exactly what I expected for a brewery out in the middle of nowhere: a huge barn with lots of character and a surprizing offering of over a dozen beers. It also has a kitchen serving up snacks and an “adventure center” where you can do outdoor activities (other than drinking beer). It also has a great patio area with awesome views of the mountains. I kept it light with a Lost River nitro pub ale which was pretty light but good for finishing my 30 drive to the hotel.

Ravenous Pig Brewing – Winter Park, FL

Well, kind of a brewery but more of a high-end restaurant. They have what appears to be brewing operations next to the bar but the food menu is $$$$. We went on the cheap and ordered a $22 hamburger along with our Lone Palm golden ale and Laid Up lager. Service was slow, both beers taste the same, the beer garden was closed but the burger was out of this world. The retro decor was kinda cool but not worth the drive or the $42 tab for a burger, fries and two beers.

Broken Strings Brewing – Orlando, FL

If heavy metal and craft beer had a baby, this place would be it. The theme of this brewery is music but the heads are bangin’ here today. We pushed our way through the mosh pit to get to the bar and order a flight of Yellow Card NE pale ale, Social Graces kolsch/german blonde, Cadence american IPA, Purple Mane. Beers were decent, music was loud and the kids were young!

Twelve Talons Beerworks – Orlando, FL

We stopped at this place on Friday but they were closed to the public for a private party so we swung back by for another shot. Turns out, the party was a 100th birthday which was pretty cool to hear about. It’s a small brewery but a great list of beers to choose from. They don’t have actual flights but allow a “build your own” 5 oz. pours so we did the Next Stop: Valhalla kveik IPA, Path To Gold golden ale, She’s A Bonny Lass irish red and The Fritz pale ale. The IPa was the most interesting since it was brewed with Norwegian yeast which is not very common and results in a sweeter tasting beer. The pale ale was our least favorite as it finished sort of watered-down.

Ten 10 Brewing – Orlando, FL

Well, what is there to say here. There has been a few posts before where we really don’t have a lot to say. Sometime, you just need to take in the moment, shut up and drink your beers. We remainded slient, listened to the house jazz music and drank our flight of Pub-lic Indecency nitro pub ale, East West west coast IPA, Subtropic Saint kolsch and Urban Trail pale ale. Nuff said.

Tactical Brewing – Orlando, FL

This is another one of those tap rooms that is nestled in to a mixed-use complex overshadowed by towers of apartments. While it does have lots of TV’s, its not a sports bar atmosphere. We were lucky to see they had the NASCAR race on but was interupted by the announcement that Biden dropped out of the race. Regardless, we enjoyed a flight of Pfefe Hefe german wheat, Bubak czech pils, Hop Cult west coast IPA and Haze Cult hazy IPA while watching everything unfold. The IPA’s were tasty and pils was smooth but the hefe really isn’t our style. Beer is good and God bless America!

Park Brewing – Lake Nona, FL

What better way to kick off Sunday funday and brewery #750 than with pizza and beer! We were a little reluctant on the drive over that this place was a true brewery since most things that pop up show Park Pizza but it for sure is. The brewing operations is right here onsite as is the wood-fired brick oven. Offering over a dozen beers, we started with the Standard Lager and Blonde Ale to wash down the Awesome Saus pizza. Delicious!

Half Barrel Beer Project – Orlando, FL

Our afternoon is winding down, so we stopped here for a bite to eat before heading back to the campground to walk and feed the dogs. This brewery is a great example of the evolution of tap rooms: no longer are the days of brewery operations with a tasting room inside to allow patrons to drink beer fresh from the vats. This tap room is located in a mixed-use residential complex that allows convenient access to the people living in the high-rises above. Beer is brewed offsite, and food is prepared in a restaurant next door. We kept it light with a Front Porch pils and a Let The Alpine Play IPA drawn from some plain black, low budget tap handles producing some headless beers.

Toll Road Brewing – Ocoee, Fl

Just on the other side of the Florida Turnpike, this brewery is on the fringes of “the hood” part of west Orlando. Our friends Dan & Leslie followed us here to take in a Blueberry Ayandubbya cream ale and Caught In The Rain pina colada cream ale which were a refreshing treat to beat this heat. The tap room was crowded with locals enjoying jubilant conversation and narrated music.
