Crown Brewing – Crown Point, IN

The last stop on today’s mini tour brings us about 6 minutes from the last brewery to finish up with some pizza and beers. We kept it simple with a couple of Oktoberfest Lagers and a small pizza. It’s a small, intimate place with only 5 seats at the bar and a few tables in the taproom but is connected to the pizzeria which is basically a restaurant with plenty of seating and an upstairs. Beers were good and pizza

Off Square Brewing – Crown Point, IN

We managed to make it out of Gary alive and headed south down I-65 to the next brewery. This place knows how to make beer. It’s your typical warehouse location but this place offers over a dozen & a half beers that are all brewed on-site. There were so many good choices that we couldn’t decide so we went with a flight plus one. The Get The Hoppa west coast IPA, Saturday Cartoons breakfast cereal milkshake IPA, Schnitz Und Giggles oktoberfest and Blonde Barista caramel nut coffee blonde ale were all exceptional. If you are ever in “The Region”, this place is a must visit!

18th Street Brewery – Gary, IN

We haven’t been trying an new breweries in a while and since our departure back to Florida has been delayed a couple of days, we thought why not take a road trip west and check out some new ones. Our first stop on this dreary Saturday afternoon brings us to the famous city of Gary, Indiana. We thought “a brewery in Gary?”. Well, its kinda what we expected – a little scary but actually pretty nice inside. Not fancy but chill although the beertender was a little too chill and maybe too high!? 🙂 The beer list was limited so we had trouble picking what liked but finally settled on the Cursed To Death IPA and the Hallie helles. One thing of interest as they were doing line dance training to some R&B music!

Mean King Brewing – Chattanooga, TN

This place is much better than the last one – its a real brewery! We ordered an Obscure Knight Dunkel and Meantober marzen from Hailey the beertender and freaked her out when we told her that her coffee was on the way. We had actually talked to a guy at the last place and said he was heading here to deliver her a coffee in exchange for a free beer. We almost stopped and picked one up for her! Oh, and the beers were great!

Alpha Brews – Chattanooga, TN

We would consider this place a brewery/craft beer store and cigar place. They do a little bit of everything here but nothing really well except maybe the canned beers. They have 10 of their own beers on draft but half of them are fruited and only one or two were decent. We had the Tennezean IPA and the Citradelic IPA which were average. They have another 10 beers on draft but they were all guest taps. There is also had an interesting selection over 200 guest canned beers but the walk-in humidor was a joke. We give this place a 5 out of 10.

Grand Scheme Brewing – Gainesville, FL

We are on a road trip this weekend with our friends Brian & Melissa and had a few minutes to kill before our reservation for “splatter painting”. We had the Mesmerist hazy IPA, Pausible Deniability west coast IPA, Known Known saison and Bait & Switch blonde ale. The IPA’s and blonde were what can be expected but the saison was a rustic belgian w/ spices and frui- very unique!

Afterburner Brewing – Terre Haute, IN

Would you ride a hop rocket to a great brewery? This picture says it all. The brewery is owned by four veterans and is decorated with military items like airplane propellers and missles. We stopped in on the day the owners were experimenting with pizza vendors with one using a smoker and the other using a brick oven. We were their taste-testers and got to enjoy lots of different pizza while drinking a Hangar Queen blonde ale and a Mach hazy IPA. We knew this place was a Harvest Host but their posting only allowed up to 30′ but one of the owners said we could park our 42-footer here the next time through.

Terre Haute Brewing – Terre Haute, IN

On our trip back to Indiana, we decided to take a different route other than I-65 thru Indy and try some new breweries. After a 5 hour drive out of Nashville, we unhooked the Jeep at the Loves truck stop and headed into town. 1st stop is this cool place with an English pub feeling tap room and a dozen different beers. We sampled the Golden Shower ale and the Sycamore Crossroads cream ale but weren’t feeling it so ordered a couple of pints of the 37 Special pils and the Wango Tango hazy IPA. Both beers were spot-on after a long day of driving. The friendly beertender Shane kept feeding us samples of their other stuff specifically the line of sours. We usually aren’t big fans of sours but these sours were awesome! We took home a couple of 6-packs of the 37 and the James & The Giant Ginger sour. Can’t wait to break them open ay Talledega!

Marble Fox Brewing – Nashville, TN

We were here back in November of 2024 but never blogged about it so we came back today to write the lowdown. This time we are here with our friend Candye so we will be trying three beers. First off, this place doesn’t look familiar so we are guessing it was one of those nigts last time! We are here in Nashville to celebrate our friend Melissa’s 50th birthday down at the Redneck Riveria. We started our wild weekend with a Southern Blonde ale, a Dancing On A Volcano amber lager and a Snowbound sweet stout. All three beers were superb.

Talking Rock Brewing – Talking Rock, GA

After over 800 breweries, we discovered one that is truly unique. The brewhouse and tap room are old train cars located on the sidetrack in downtown. We sat outside and enjoyed a Silver Bullet pils and a Cindi Lauger marzen along with the beautiful weather. There was even live music in the pavilion. All aboard!
