Crooked Can Brewing – Winter Garden, FL

In response to a post on Facebook, some old friends reached out to us to meet up for a beer while we were in town. Our friends Dan & Leslie met us at this brewery for a couple of Florida Sunshine lagers and Citrus Kicker IPA’s in this quaint little downtown area. If you have never been to Winter Garden, you should definitely check it out sometime. This newly developed community is being built to duplicate a middle-America downtown with a Main Street and retail to serve the community. Most places are walking distance from residents homes or by golf cart for convenience. Friendly people, good food and great beer. The brewery is a major attraction in the downtown market area and was buzzing with patrons all afternoon. Pretty cool place.

Brewlando Brewing – Orlando, FL

This is one of our favorite breweries not because of their beer selection but because of their decor. This place is build using shipping containers as the primary theme – the same as our container garage. The cooler is a 40′ container, the bar is cladded in container material and some of the walls are built using parts of shipping containers. This place has given us plenty of great ideas on how to build out our bar in the garage. We drank a Kinship kolsch and a Jernigan’s hazy IPA along with empanadas and tacos – what a great way to close out the day.

Hourglass Brewing – Orlando, FL

There are so many good beers here to choose from and since we are next to the airport, we decided to do a flight and a bag of pretzels. We had the Cavernous Pines west coast IPA, Get To Work red lager, Nu Metal Cowboi honey brown ale, We’re Doomed witbier and Wolf Shirt light lager. All the beers were ouystanding as was the ranch flavored pretzels!

Sideward Brewing – Orlando, FL

Let the weekend begin! Our first stop on this blistering Friday afternoon takes us downtown where there is a high concentration of breweries. This place is pretty small but has a great seletion of good beers ranging from light 4% lagers all the way up to 10% stouts. We were intrigued with the boston cream pie imperial stout but kept it light to start the day with a Punks In The Waiting Room lager and Dagger dry-hopped oat lager. Nice & refreshing on this scorching afternoon. We had to laugh at the dorks sitting in the tap room with laptops open talking on their bluetooth earbuds. C’mon man – it Friday at 4:30 and you’re at a brewery, you’re not that important!

Rockpit Brewing – Orlando, FL

Time to eat barbeque! This brewery is located next door to a top-notch bbq joint on the south side ot town. We indulged in some jalapeno poppers and a giant pulled pork sandwich washing it down with a Mustache Ride red ale and a Sodo Blondin’ blonde ale. The side of creamy mac & cheese was the topper!

Gatlin Hall Brewing – Orlando, FL

It’s hard to believe that we have been on this beer tour for over 7 years and never been to any breweries in Orlando. So, to celebrate at 59th birthday, we decided to do a 4-day mini tour to check out as many as we can. Most of them look to be about 30-40 minutes from camp with traffic so we started with the closest one that also has food. We kicked things off this Thirst-day afternoon with their Barlow lager and Rosenberger german pils. Both beers were cold & refreshing and a great way to start the 3-day weekend!

Inner Compass Brewing – Lakewood Ranch, FL

We were amazed to find out we never knew this brewery existed until our friends told us about it. In all of our Maps searches for breweries, it never showed up. We stopped here to eat and have an early birthday celebration drinking Hazed & Enthused hazy IPA and Kan-Do kolsch before heading to Orlando next weekend. Beer was good and the food was great!

Sun Lab Brewing – Bradenton, FL

This is the second time we have visited this brewery but it was formally Darwin Brewing and was #350 on our tour. Like before, we were with our good friends Brian & Melissa but this time Christie came along too. We drank the Sun Haze hazy IPA and Sun Faze blonde ale which were surprizingly good considering they only had 6 house beers since they recently reopened under a new name.

Deviant Libations – Tampa, FL

We thought we hit all the breweries in town but we found a new one that has only been open for about a year. They only had a couple of beers that is our liking but offered a 4 stouts and 5 sours. Its a gothic-themed tasting room cranking out some Alternative tunes and an emphasis on making the LGBT community feel welcome. We had the Destruction Ritual golden ale and The Crone red IPA. Pretty decent considering they are truely a micro-brewery.

Fox City Brewing – Forsyth, GA

While we were at the brewery last night, a cousin of the family happened to be traveling to Jacksonville for a long holiday weekend and stopped at the Loves that we had the bus parked at. She took a selfie and sent it to us – what a surprize! What are the chances that someone traveling from Kentucky to Florida would notice our bus parked along their route? Wierd but we figured it was a “sign” so we changed our travel plans and decided to meet them in JAX. We pulled into the Flying J, unhooked the Jeep and headed to this brewery to quench our thirst. Great little brewery with good beer and good food. We drank the Foxythia light lager and Yarnspinner blonde ale with a pretzel & cheese and gumbo. We finished things off with the Bloody Bob red ale and the Eternal Hoptimist hazy IPA. Everything was awesome!
