Yuengling Brewing – Tampa, FL

Yes, this is the renown Yuengling that you can buy just about anywhere but we are not in Pottstown, PA. This mega-tap room (called Draft Haus & Kitchen) dwarfs most breweries. If I had to guess, both the inside bar & dining, retail, conference center and outdoor bar & gaming are has to be at least 5 acres. We came here to try the beers most people never heard of and is only served onsite. The Traditional Lager has been around for year and it the most popular but they recently started selling Flight which is basically their version of a light beer. There are ten beers on the menu today so we started off with the Yuengling Premium and Golden Pilsner. Nothing earth shattering here – just two solid beers that taste similar to Budweiser. We went a different direction on the 2nd round by getting pints of the Barvarian Lager and the Lord Chesterfield Ale. These two beers are much better with the lager leaning toward an Oktober-style beer and the ale tasting a lot like an IPA. All in all, we are glad we came but probably wouldn’t make the 40 minute drive up here again.

Sky Puppy Brewing – Tampa, FL

What an unusual tap room – or should we say bat cave. This bat-themed brewery has only been open about six months and is a life-long dream of the owner/brewmaster, Matt. We originally thought this brewery was dog inspired since there is numerous pics of dogs but soon learned its all about the bats. They have a pretty decent offering of brews made right on the back room. We had the The One Who Gathers helles lager and Grim Interest hazy IPA. Both beers were pheonominal!

Voodoo Brewing – Valrico, FL

We heard about this place last night from some people sitting at the bar at Cheddars. While you could make an argument that its a brewery, its really just a family-style restaurant serving beer made at their production facility in PA. Their beer menu is made up of only about 6 beers of their own – the other dozen or so are guest beers. We had a Good Vibes west coast IPA and Empty Calories american light lager which weren’t too bad but the atmosophere was terrible. Bright lights, loud voices, screaming kids and a line to get in at the door. Waaaayyy over-rated and definitely not our style! What kinda brewery only has one beer menu at the bar and nothing posted in the wall?

Iron Hill Brewery – Whitehall, PA

This brewery wasn’t open when we visited the area during Covid. It just happens to be in the same mall as Pocono Brewing which we did visit back in 2020. The Oktoberfest festbier was phonominal as was the happy hour fried chicken sandwich for only $6.00! (regularly $15.75). They offered a seasonal Spruce Moose hazy IPA and Hipster hazy juicy IPA. The Moose tasted like a pine tree but the Hipster was spot on!

Hutton & Smith Brewing – Chattanooga, TN

This was the only brewery in town that we didn’t visit last year when we spent a few days here and it was worth the wait. Lots of different styles of beer to choose from (20) and they are all real beer – not seltzer or other crap. We had a Basecamp blonde ale and a Rocktoberfest marzen. Very refreshing after a long day of driving from Somerset, KY.

Westwind Brewery – Elkhart, IN

Our niece Jacqui recently moved to the area for her job, so we made the trip over to visit her and hit a brewery or two. We met up with her at this fine establishment to try a couple of their dozen or so beers to choose from. We went with a Liebezum Herbst marzen and Better Days raspberry wheat which did not disappoint. It was worth the trip.

The Seymour Brewing Co. – Seymour, IN

We’ve always been curious about John Mellencamp’s home town when driving up & down I-65 so here we are. This quaint little brewery shares a building with a pizza joint but don’t let this odd arrangement fool you. This place has great beer in a small-town atmosphere. We had the Reno Gold blonde ale and the More Than A Feeling ESB.

Middle Ground Brewing – Murfreesboro, TN

We were supposed to stay here tonight as part of Harvest Host but good thing we cancelled yesterday and decided to stay at an RV park. They opened at 4 but close at 5 for a private event. We would have been pissed staying in the strip mall parking lot watching folks go in and out. We only had time for one so we had the Scwarzbier german black lager and Garden Party pale ale which were very good.

Wild Leap Brewing – Atlanta, GA

I don’t think we have ever been this close to the actual downtown area. This brewery is built in an old industrial complex next to the railyard. Pretty cool place but looks like it could get really amped up late night. We had the Superlager german pils and Oktoberfest marzen while watching the trains go by.

Atlantucky Brewing – Atlanta, GA

Craft beer meets hip-hop and they have a baby. Its called Atlantucky and its on the fringe of the hood but has great beer! We drank The Bluff american lager and the Not Just NE IPA hazy. We ordered the Humdinger pizza and it was just that – a real humdinger!
