Watermark Brewing – Stevensville, MI

I received a gift card to this brewery for my birthday so we decided to take a road trip into Michigan and hit a couple of breweries along the way. They only had 4 beers with the rest being seltzers and hard waters. We tried the Shark Bait kolsch and King Prawn IPA while checking out the large outdoor area for dogs and kids in the downtown area.

River St. Joe Brewing – Buchanan, MI

Who woulda thought this small town in Michigan has two great breweries? This time we got smart and went back to ordering flights. Since their flights only have 3 beers, we went with two flights. The one beer we were most curious about ran out at a half of glass (the one in the middle) which was made with spruce tree tips. Well, needless to say, it was surprisingly good and not too over- bearing on the pine tree flavor. The rest of the beers were superb!

Lehman’s Farmhouse Brewery – Buchanan, MI

A little difficult to get here due to all the road construction in town but defintely worth the hassle. This brewery prides itself in using only locally grown ingredients and you can really taste the difference in their beers. We had the Kolsch & the Mosiac IPA and they were very good however, the Kolsch did taste like a belgian blonde and the IPA tasted like a brown or scotch ale. Funny thing is they had all three of the others so we wished we would have gotten a flight to make sure the beertender didn’t make a mistake. Maybe next time……

Studebaker Brewing – New Carlisle, IN

We are running on all 12 cylinders now! This brewery is actually the 2nd Studebaker opened in the area. We visited the original two years ago but felt compelled to write about this one too. The original is very different – located in a historic restaurant offering only a few beers. This location really stepped things up offering a dozen REALLY GOOD beers. We stumbled upon this place yesterday and were determined to come back today and try a flight since the two pints of 654 blonde ale and Avanti american amber were great. We went all-in and had two flights to try all the beers. If you are ever in northern Indiana, you MUST stop by this brewery!

Gatlinburg Brewing – Gatlinburg, TN

When we decided to spend a couple of days in Tennessee, we were hoping to see the “historical side” that would be different from Nashville. We thought Pigeon Forge would be this small, quaint town with old buildings and local charm. Boy were we wrong! Its nothing more than a Kissimmee in Tennessee. A giant amusement park themed city. Now, Gatlinburg is different. While it is a bustling town of tourist, it does have some small-town charm. This brewery is located in the heart of town overlooking what would be the main intersection. We ordered up the Gatty Light golden ale & Cheeky Bloke ESB and people watched for over an hour.

Smoky Mountain Brewery – Pigeon Forge, TN

Now that is a flight! It’s not too often that you find a brewery that offers up to 10 beers on their flights. They only had nine on draft today so we said “let’s do ’em all!” We are always a little skeptical of brewery/restaurants that are located in tourist-trap towns but this one is the real deal. All nine beers were awesome. This brewery is a must visit if you are in town.

Schoolhouse Brewing – Marietta, GA

Well, we haven’t visited any new breweries in a couple of months so we were glad to find this one only 5 minutes from our camp. When we pulled up, we thought for sure we might have already visited it but after going inside, we determined that we have not. Upon arrival, we could immediately smell the brewing of beer and once entered, the smell was even more intense. Yum! We checked out the 20 pinball machines while sipping on an I See You Won First Prize scotch ale and a Kolsch Encounters. The kolsch was decent but the scotch ale had a weird, tangy feel on the tongue. All in all, it was a nice experience after a long day of driving. The freaky thing is, our website was written on the wall in the mens bathroom! WTF?

Mucho Aloha Brewhouse – Kauai, HI

We were surprized to find a new brewery in this part of the world. All of our prior trips to the Garden Island only had three breweries so we were eager to check this one out. Located in a small town known as Koloa, we tried their Das Bier german lager, Rice Pounder lager and Chili Peppah Watah rice lager. All were impressive for being brewed on the island. It must be the volcanic water!

Gulfport Brewing – Gulfport, FL

We thought we hit all the breweries in the Tampa-St. Pete area but this one popped up on our weekend camping at the south fishing pier of the Skyway Bridge. Turns out that it opened in 2020 in a quaint, “hippy town” (yes, they really call it that) right on the inner-coastal of St. Pete Beach. Its more restaurant then brewery but serves up over a dozen beers none the less. We started off the afternoon with a Gold Ale and Drunken Lullabies irish red. Both beers were pretty good so we stuck around and had the Hippie Oasis hazy IPA and the Frosty Suds Missile lager. If you visit this brewery, allow ample time to get your beer – the beertenders don’t seem to understand how to prioritize their work like refilling the water cups and mopping the floor when the customers are 6-deep in line for beer!
