Gulf Stream Brewing – Fort Lauderdale, FL

The long awaited opening has arrived! We have been watching this place for the last 6 months in anticipation. Today is their 2nd day of “soft opening” and we were a little disappointed but not discouraged from future visits knowing that the limited selection (5 IPA’s and two Porter’s) was due to the ramp up. We had the India Pale Lager and the Marley IPA – both of which aren’t really our style of beers. Looking forward to a full selection of different styles!

Civil Society Brewing – Jupiter, FL

Located in the Abacoa area of town, this brewery is located in a new, retail unit of a mixed-use development that is popular with IPA enthusists who enjoy the “hoppier” side of the beer spectrum. We sipped on the Blondes Make Me Hoopy blonde ale and the Emerald Showers IPA while taking in the hip scene and funky music.

Twisted Trunk Brewing – Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Merry Christmas! Well, kinda. This brewery is celebrating Christmas in July with holiday brews, decorations, music and even a Christmas tree.  We cuddled up in front of the fireplace with a Steamhorse lager, a Palm Beach Pilz and or course a Gingerbread Red in anticipation excited there is only 157 left. Ho ho ho!

Tequesta Brewing – Jupiter, FL

So this place is our first stop on the Tim’s Birthday Weekend brewery tour. Starting unusually late on a Friday night (9:00p), we just finished a delicious lobster roll at a local bar & grill and decided to check this place out before heading back to the Tour bus parked at Jupiter RV Resort. We walked into a dark & lively tasting room with live music and the chatter of folks enjoying the 10 different beers served up in front of a vintage oak bar. We enjoyed the Der Chancellor german kolsch and the Gnarly Barley APA.

New Smyrna Beach Brewery – New Smyrna Beach, FL

Neat tasting room located downtown in an old storefront, this place has everything we like. Vintage feel, good variety of tasty beers and they brew on site. We thoroughly enjoyed the Grab Her By The Pilsner and the Island Hoppy Cooper Ale.

Copperpoint Brewing – Boynton Beach, FL

The 3rd brewery in the group, this is much inproved over the last and offers beers more to our liking. The tap room felt like a German pub with family-style seating and a rustic wood  decor; a fitting atmosphere as we watch Germany take on Sweden in the FIFA World Cup. We really enjoyed the Copperpoint Lager amber ale & Das Pils (of course!) while snacking on pretel rods and watching the crowd got wild as Germany took a 2 to 1 lead!

NOBO Brewing – Boynton Beach, FL

The 2nd stop of three breweries all within 2 blocks of each other, this place really wasn’t our cup of tea. We struggled to choose a beer that wasn’t too exotic for our taste and settled on the Starbus coffee blonde ale. Light in color but heavy in flavor, this blonde ale’s half-sister is a dark coffee stout.

Flagler Village Brewing – Fort Lauderdale, FL

We first visited this brewery a couple of months ago but the “upstairs” was closed for a private event. The tasting room is actually located above a bar & restaurant called The Brass Tap that serves a wide variety of craft beers and great food. Today, we were disappointed to discover that the tasting room is permanently closed while they renovate it into a speak-easy. The Brass Tap still serves the house beers so we enjoyed the Fort Lager Ale and the Will’s Pale Ale. I don’t normally drink pale ales due to their “hoppiness” but today I went out on a limb and I wasn’t disappointed! We finished the day with the Little Session Submarine and the Pelotero pils.
