Pinglehead Brewing – Jacksonville, FL

Part brewery – part pizza joint, this place serves up some good beers. With a menu of about 9 beers, we went with two of their most popular: Imperial Red and Endless Summer golden ale. The brewery and pizza place uses to be separate businesses in this strip mall but decided to knock down the wall in between and join forces.

Cultured Collective Brewing – Jacksonville, Fl

Let the games begin! This is our first stop kicking off our 2021 Brewery Tour. Located in an old house, the tasting room is actually in the garage and the brewing operations are in a smaller house in the back. Weird but the beer was good. The menu was small, typical of a brewery like this so we tried the Golden Hour pils and the Operation Mockingbird American ale.

Georgia Beer Co. – Valdosta, GA

What a small world. We were on our way back from Atlanta and stopped at a truck stop along I-75 to spend the night. We searched breweries in the area and decided to check this place out. Crazy thing is, we walked in and two of our friends from the Moose were there celebrating the St. Patrick’s day event! WTF? Out of all the places…..anyway, we stuck around and had the Field Party blonde ale, the Azalea City amber ale and the O’Corley’s Irish Red in honor of the holiday.

Macon Beer Co. – Macon, GA

So we stopped by this place last night but they were closed for a private event. Tonight is a different story. We eagerly got a place at the bar and ordered the pretzel bites with horseradish mustard and beer cheese. Awesome! Of course we got to the important stuff and really, really liked their Progress pale ale and the Macon Money double IPA. To top it all off, the Mississippi Cheesesteak was the best we ever had! This place is a must visit in Macon.

Fall Line Brewing – Macon, GA

Today brought us a little hope as we were able to find a mobile mechanic that had the right software to diagnose our bus issues. Unfortunately, he doesn’t arrive until tomorrow so we were able to venture out to another brewery. 1st impression was this place smells like onions but the beer was phenomenal. We has their Basecamp Pilsner and their Fall Line Lager – yum!

Ocmulgee Brewing – Macon, GA

Well, there is good news and bad news: good news is we found a brewery – bad news is the bus broke down on our way to Atlanta and we are in Macon. Not a bad city or bad brewery – offering about a dozen beers as well as a pretty decent burger. We actually had two beers each to drown our sorrows with the Ocmulgee Cream Ale and the Float Daze amber ale. Both were great as was the burger and truffle fries.

First Magnitude Brewing – Gainesville, FL

Our last stop on this beautiful Sunday-Funday afternoon has us at a kid-friendly but not dog-friendly tasting room just south of downtown with ample outdoor seating to accommodate our tag-along pup Zoey. At this point, she was winding down after a day-long adventure of sniffing, locking and peeing all over town. We wrapped things up with a Vega blonde ale and a 72 pale ale – both which were very tasty!

Big Top Brewing – Gainesville, FL

Unbeknownst to us, we already visited this breweries Sarasota location a year or two ago. If memory serves us well, that location had a circus theme while this one is just a plain outright club atmosphere since it’s in the heart of Gator country. Thumping music and twenty-somethings filled the tasting room. The beer list also reflects the local vibe: mostly high-octane, exotic flavors with very little resemblance to our style of brews. We went out on a limb and tried the Zwickel Your Fancy Kellerbier and the Bierzebub India pale lager. Both were a little too ABV for our liking!

Cypress & Grove Brewing – Gainesville, FL

This beautiful Sunday afternoon starts out at a bustling brewery and farmers market located near the University of Florida campus. The farmers market is more like a college clothing outlet but the brewing is exactly that with a nice variety of brews and plenty of outdoor seating in the shaded beer garden. We enjoyed the Blonde Ale and American Pilsner while watching folks wonder about the market.
