Green Flash Brewery- Virginia Beach

This place is huge. Its a free standing building with lots of beer.  We are here visiting my brother Chris and his wife Kelly.  They have lots of outside activities in there very large outside area. Bocce ball, corn hole and many other outdoor activities for families.

Wooden Robot Brewery – Charlotte, NC

Feels more like a club than a tasting room, this brewery is only serving up 9 beers on draft and a whole lotta overhead club music. We split a 20 oz pour of Botbier blonda ale which was very good but the highlight of this stop was the Beer Cheese pretzel served up by Twisted Eats kitchen.

Legion Brewing – Charlotte, NC

Hip brewery with a younger vibe, this (yet another) rustic tasting room appears to be patronized by local professionals unwinding after a hard days work. Laptops open and talking shop, folks here wash away the days stress with a variety of mostly lighter beers along with one robust porter. We had the Project Pils which was brewed with locally grown malt and the Crease Monkey weissbier lending notes of banana, spice and wierdly enough, bubblegum.

Catawba Brewing – Charlotte, NC

Our first impression was “wow”! With over two dozen brews in all styles & flavors, there was nothing there that couldn’t satify. Open only a couple of weeks earlier, we were a little concerned enroute that we would have trouble getting served since the folks at the last brewery told us they have been “slammed”. There was ample seating and great service from the bartender who gave us some history and advice on othere breweries in the area. We had the Mother Trucker pale ale and the Farmer Ted’s cream ale – both of which were superb!

Birdsong Brewing – Charlotte, NC

The first brewery so far on our tour that offers free peanuts, this brewery located in the heart of “uptown” has a good seletion of different beers infused with fruits and vegetables. We tried the All Night Long belgian blonde and the Free Will american pale ale although we think there was a mix-up as the latter beer tasted like it had jalapeno peppers in it instead of honey making it the peppered pale ale. Even with the suspected mix-up, both beers were pretty good to start off our evening of brewery tour.

Ass Clown Brewery – Cornelius, NC

By far the craziest tasting room we have been to so far, the name pretty much speaks for itself! Serving up well over two dozen craft beers, this place is known for its wide variety of brews that keeps the locals coming back. One of only a handful of breweries we have visited that actually mix their beers to offer even more combinations, we estimate that any pallet could be satisified by the blue-haired beer mixologist behind the bar in this “home basement” feeling tasting room.

Primal Brewery – Huntersville, NC

A cool, rustic-themed tasting room brewing “beer gods” based beers. Friendly bartender serving delicious brews, craft jerky, popcorn and great conversation.   We actually went out of our box and drank 4 pints.  We enjoyed the mouth-watering Charley Brown brown ale, Lawn Boy american ale, Lucille Red Ale and the Obsidian Black Lager. All of the beers were GREAT – a definite must-visit to the Charlotte area.

D9 Brewing Co. – Cornelius, NC

In a new and upcoming industrial area not too far from the Joe Gibbs Racing facilities, this modern brewery with a casual theme brews their beer on site.  We drank the Lake Time blonde ale and the Our Town Brown ale.   In our opinion the brown ale has alot of cinnamon & nutmeg and was a little hard getting through to to the lighter finish. They definately need to resolve the knat problem!
