Johnnie Mccracken’s Celtic Firehouse Pub – Marietta, GA

Technically not a brewery but they do brew their own beer so we thought we would blog about this place at least for posterity. We decided to have dinner and a beer to close out the weekend and were surprised to receive our beer in a plastic cups even though we were seated at the bar at an Irish pub? Then out comes our Celtic nachos and Shepherd’s Pie on a paper plate and a paper cup. Of course plastic utensils to eat with – WTF? The pie was pretty good but the nachos were chunks of fat instead of corned beef. The floor was sticky but the beer was decent.

Glover Park Brewery – Marietta, GA

Located in downtown Marietta and in the dog-friendly basement of an old factory, we drank our last beers of the day consisting of the Voodoo pils and the Wee Ready Irish red ale while the locals sat outside next to the fire pits and strollers.

Red Hare Brewing Co. – Marietta, GA

This was our 3rd stop of the day and the weather is clearing up. We met a nice local couple who was curious about our vagabond life style and our passion for breweries. We really enjoyed the Full Monti and Marzen beers.

School House Brewing – Marietta, GA

Teaching us that traditional tasting rooms and home brewing is still alive, this brewery has a fun theme of grade school meets beer. A principal’s office, teacher’s lounge, music department, library, cafeteria and of course a playground for recess. The owners are former school teachers and sell home brewing ingredients as well. We got schooled with the Waiting Room lager and the Freshman Class IPA.

Ironmonger Brewing – Marietta, GA

No toilet paper, no problem – the tour must go on! By now, most everyone has heard of the “butt-wipe armageddon” that is spreading all over social media causing stupid people who believe fake news to go out and stock up on TP. If you are one of those idiots that cleared the store shelves and left commonsense people like us without anything for our bums, we say thanks for contributing to the ignorance that is infecting our nation.

Now, back to what is more important in life besides toilet paper: BEER. Our 1st stop on this dreary Sunday afternoon is quite unique offering not only a well-rounded menu of the foamy stuff but also axe throwing. Yes, axe throwing! Beer in one hand, axe in the other? We didn’t throw an axe but we did enjoy a License To Kolsch and a Rugby Vienna lager.

Atlanta Motor Speedway – Atlanta, GA

So this year’s NASCAR tour is off to a not-so-good start. This is our 1st track of the 2020 Tour and all 3 races were postponed this weekend due to something called the coronavirus. What a disappointment! The good thing is that we get full credit to either come back to this track when the race gets rescheduled or attend a different track owned by MSI. We will probably opt to come back here.

Arches Brewing – Atlanta, GA

So Maps tells us we visited this place 3 years ago although we couldn’t find a blog confirming that. Funny thing is we faintly remember coming here and being told we have to buy “tokens” then redeem them for beer. After much debate, we asked the frendly and helpful beer-tender and he confirmed that they used to use tokens but the law recently changed. The mystery still remains as to why we didn’t originally blog about this brewery as the beer here is very good. So tonight we drank the Southside amber lager and the Renegade pils which we are sure to remember since we are writing this blog and the beer-tender gave us an old token!

Three Taverns Craft Beer – Atlanta, GA

Recommended by an old friend Becca, we visited this tasting room with high expectations and weren’t disappointed. We quickly broke out our carry-in snacks of Swamp Peanuts and Kimchi BBQ pork rinds and jumped right in with a Rowdy And Proud IPA and a Prince Of Pilsen (the name speaks for itself). The Rowdy was in honor of Johnna’s driver Kyle Busch and was everything she like, starts sweet, ends with a bite and no aftertaste.

The Lost Druid – Atlanta, GA

Just around the corner from the Heaven production facility, this brewery was inspired by the owners interest in the Druid people of Europe. The tasting room is decorated in honor of the Druids connection to nature with natural materials like wood and stone. We shared in the Elixirs of Closer To The Divine pale ale and the Whispers From Above blonde ale. Both were divine!

Wild Heaven (production facility) -Atlanta, GA

It was almost an hour drive from the track but worth it. You can’t get any closer to the brewing operations than this. When we walked in, they were literally canning beer in the tasting room. One guy was loading cans into the machine and the other guy was putting them into 24-packs out the other end. Crazy! We sat there sipping on the Bestie pub ale and the Standard Deluxe German lager watching these guys work their butts off so we could enjoy such delicious beer then realized we had already had these exact same beers a coupleof days ago. God Bless America!
