Free Will Brewing – Perkasie, PA

Our last stop before pulling out tomorrow, this mid-sized brewery is on the main road of a small town and was all setup for serving the masses practicing Covid safety. They had a huge “beer garden” located behind the brewery with seating for over 50 people. We chose to sit in the front of the brewery sipping on the Pool Beer cream ale and the Kragle Light IPA while snacking on the local jerky and watching the traffic go by.

Bucks County Brewing – Pipersville, PA

This brewery was our 1st stop on a beautiful Sunday afternoon just a few of miles south of Ottsville. Nestled in a wooded industrial park, this small-town brewery makes some pretty decent beers. We enjoyed the Just Lager and Badwater pale ale sitting in our folding chairs with feet up on the bails of hay.

Ambler Beer Co. – Ambler, PA

This stop brought us more new people to meet and share our traveling experiences with. We met a young couple who also do a lot of traveling and we exchanged stories of breweries visited and cities we have staying in. We sipped on a Hagues Mill lager and Heckler Street APA while exchanging contact information agreeing to meet up again should our paths cross.

McAllister Brewing – North Wales, PA

As more and more breweries are reopening, our tour is picking up steam again. Our 1st stop on this beautiful Saturday afternoon lands us right in the middle of a fund raiser for Murph, an employee of the brewery who is in the hospital suffering from a serious illness. What a better way to raise money for a good cause than live music, real BBQ, great beer and a fun atmosphere. It was a little crowded but we managed to order up a Gras Mahen German pils & Right Said Fred APA and the bar and make our donation. We didn’t sample the food but took in the music and thoroughly enjoyed the beer.

Hijinx Brewing – Allentown, PA

So this brewery made us feel like things will get back to normal. Located in sort of an alley in an old manufacturing building, we met these two nice ladies and talked about our travel over a Helles Yes lager and Pitch Penny ESB. The beers and the conversation was what this brewery tour is all about – meeting nice people and tasting great beer!

Taylor House Brewing – Catasauqua, PA

This brewery had a very limited offering so we had to settle for a couple of beers we wouldn’t normally drink but we were happy just to have someplace to go. We ordered up a Revolution IPA and an Independence IPA which were a little hoppy for our likings but we managed to get them down before they turned too warm.

Pocono Brewery – Whitehall, PA

We kicked off our Friday night with a stop at this brewery located in a shopping center almost 30 minutes north of our campsite. Today was their 1st day of opening back up and we were their 1st customers since the pandemic. Talk about great customer service – we have three servers catering to our every need. We opted for a Pokawachne Golden Ale and Mauch Chunk Pale Ale along with the warm pretzel. Again, no picture because we weren’t allowed inside and who wants to see a bunch of outdoor tables?

The Proper Brewing Co – Quakerstown, PA

Our 2nd & last stop for the evening, our colleague arrived from DC and we made our way over to this brewery just a one minute walk from the last one. We decided to order dinner along with our round of beers which consisted of Gabi Wit and the Leia”s Lager. Both beers were superb as was Ahi Tuna and Shrimp Po Boy.

Two Rivers Brewing – Quakertown, PA

This brewery was just minutes from our campsite in the heart of downtown next to the old train station and was open for outdoor seating. Practicing social distancing and safe practices, we were required to wear masks upon entering and any time we weren’t seated at our picnic table. Basking in the warm afternoon sun, we were killing time waiting for a work colleague to come in from the Washington, DC area. We stuck around for two rounds of beers starting off with the Trolley Barn Lager & the Banker’s Brown Ale then moving on to the Broad St. Belgian Blonde & Old Squire Abel’s ESB. All the beers were great and a must visit if you ever come to Quakertown. We’ve decided not to post a picture since who want to see a bunch of picnic tables!

Sage Alley Brewery – Coopersburg, PA

Captains Log Day 86: things are starting to open up. We left LaPorte and headed east landing in Quakerstown, Pennsylvainia for an undetermined amount of time. The 1st stop on what we will call our PA Mini-Tour was a small intimate brewery in a quaint little town just north of where we setup camp. Outside seating was available so we sat anxiously at a picnic table waiting for the busy server to come around and take our order. Unfortunately, service was very slow and we quickly grew impatient seeing others quenching their thirst while we remained parched. Finally, the server came around and we opted for the Sage Alley Pilsner and the Irish Red Ale. Both beers were pretty decent but we could see that service was going to continue to be a challenge so we called it a day.
