Leaven Brewing – Riverview, FL

Ahhhh. It’s good to have good beer again. This is our 1st brewery in nearly two weeks. Since then, we have been compromising and drinking what some beer enthusiasts call “near-beer”. Its nice to be back in the craft scene where you can get a dozen different beers and great food. We had an Is Good Kolsch and a Just Czeching pils.

Lucky Bucket Brewing – Omaha, NE

Lucky indeed. It’s not every day we get 3 great breweries in one day. We wonder if it’s the local hops and barley or just the careful craftsman doing the brewing. Regardless, this taproom pretty much has every taste covered from light & refreshing to dark & malty. We languished in the Pre-Prohibition lager and the Oktoberfest Marzen while reflecting on what a great, Great Plains stop this has been.

Infusion Brewing – Omaha, NE

Established in 2013, this taproom is intimate and lively with a cheerful beer-tender and tasty snacks. Oh, and did we mention awesome beer? This German-inspired brewery offers 16 beers on tap, cheese & sausage boards, warm pretzels and mouthwatering confections. We got a little outside our box with the Grahamber amber ale that actually tasted like graham crackers but played it safe with an Infusionfest Marzen. We even got a growler of Metz Jubilee which is the original recipe of Metz Beer brewed from 1864 through 1972. All the beers were out of this world and we think this is our new favorite brewery!

Thunderhead Brewing – Omaha, NE

We started off this warm Saturday afternoon in a cool tasting room that was also hosting a bridal shower. RUN GIRL RUN! This brewery offers about 16 of their own brews and another half dozen guest beers. We started off slow with a Schaben’s pils and a Leatherhead Red ale. Both beers were pretty tasty as was their huge variety of flavored popcorn but what really set this taproom apart from the others was the miniature train running around the perimeter of the room.

Pint Nine Brewing – Omaha, NE

So we walked next door and BOOM, more great beers. And not only great beers but a yummy food truck as well. We once again went with a couple of our favorites: Festbier Marzen lager and a Karate Monkey Kolsch. And, the food truck was a cajun -barbeque that had freaking awesome chicken, pork, jambalaya and crawfish. This place is a must-visit in Omaha.

Kros Strain Brewing – Omaha, NE

Just 5 minutes south sits this bustling brewery and is literally right next door to yet another brewery. Again, another huge variety of over two dozen beers, we were delighted to see they had all of our favorites. We sipped on the Helles Creek lager and the Krostoberfest Marzen.

Nebraska Brewing – Omaha, NE

After lunch and a quick nap, we ventured out to check out the Omaha craft beer scene. Our 1st stop brought us to this fine establishment that is serving two dozen tasty brews. We played it safe with a Nebraska Pils German pils and a Brunette nutbrown ale. Curiosity got the best of us and we tried the Gimme S’more brown ale that actually tasted like, well, a s’more but was too much to drink a whole pint.

Benson Brewery – Omaha, NE

Located in an older part of town, we stopped here for lunch on our way back to the campsite from OMA airport. We heard about this area called Benson after a layover in STL from a girl in the airport. We drank a Blonde Bunny blonde ale and College Water cream ale along with sharing Smoked Reuben sandwich. Everything was delicious!

Pals Brewing – North Plattes, NE

Great beer for the Great Plains. This bustling little family-owned brewery is located literally out in the corn fields of Nebraska. Offering 8 core beers and a couple of seasonals, we started off with the Palgian Blonde and the Jerry Light to enjoy with our Hog Heaven pizza. Everything was so good we had to go a 2nd round with a Nebraska Strong amber ale and a Jalapeno cream ale. Everything was top notch! The customer service was also awesome as just about every one of the 10 servers stopped by our table to make sure everything was okay. One of the servers even gave us some recommendations for other breweries in the Orlando area as she just returned from a stint with Disney.

Great Frontier Brewing – Lakewood, CO

Built in a former Meineke Muffler shop, this brewery marks a 1st and a last for us. It’s the first time we have had gluten free beer and the last stop for us in the Denver area. We were a little reluctant to try gluten free but it wasn’t too bad. The Silly Ass amber did taste any different than any other amber but the Blonde Annie had a more sour taste that could be contributed to the gluten.
