Zephyrhills Brewing – Zephryhills, FL

LOL – how can 3 of the 4 beers we order on a flight taste almost the same?! Since this is the only brewery in town, we were hoping they had good beer but we were wrong. The Cap’n Jefferies cream ale, Paulie’s Other Blonde blonde ale and Hegmam’s amber ale all taste almost the same. The Fresh Dank Of Bel-Air IPA smelled like feet and tasted like burnt hops – yuck!

Double Branch Brewing – Wesley Chapel, FL

Today kicks off a 7-week road trip that takes us to Indiana, then a NASCAR race in Atlanta followed by a trip to Atlantic City for a little adult fun and finally a stop in Virginia Beach for a birthday celebration before heading back to Florida in time for the Chris Stapleton & George Strait concern first weekend in August. This brewery offers two-dozen beers ranging from light lagers to dark stouts. We started off light with the Debbie blonde ale and Vienna-ish vienna lager – pretty tasty!

Cycle Brewing – St. Pete, FL

This bicycle-themed brewery was yet again another couple blocks east getting closer to the bay. We sat out on the sidewalk enjoying a Presta lager and I Like Dragons IPA watching the world walk by. They have about 20 beers on their menu but it looks like stouts is their specialty with 10 different flavors combinations that include cinnamon, marshmellow, hazelnut, coconut, vanilla, banana, chocolate, peppers and strawberry. We didn’t go there this visit!

Overflow Brewing – St. Pete, FL

Our second stop is another couple blocks east off Central Ave in downtown St. Pete. This brewery is small and intimate with lots of artwork on the wall for sale by local artists. We sipped on a couple of Florida Flannel west coast IPA and Flownenburg pale lager while checking out the unsual art.

Green Bench Brewing – St. Pete, FL

Our first stop of the afternoon was a few blocks up the street at a place called Mutts & Martini’s. It’s an indoor/outdoor dog play park with a pool – great for dogs but not a lot of fun if you are beer-lovers like us. We brought along Zoey for some fun. We headed here after the dog park for a Bench Life lager and Post Card pils – a nice way to cool off on hot afterrnoon.

Coppertail Brewing – Tampa, FL

We just had a delicious italian beef from Portillo’s in Brandon and decided to take a quick trip west on Hwy 60 to have a beer. We are pretty sure we’ve been to this brewery before but can’t find that we blogged about it so here goes. They have quite the variety of beers but the most interesting was their five “Smash” IPA’s. Not knowing what that meant, the beertender explained it was something along the line of single malt and single hop. We passed on the experiment and went with the Power Play pale ale and the Hop Quest hazy IPA. Both beers were very good.

Florida Avenue Brewing – Tampa, FL

It’s hard to believe we have never been here before but then again, this brewery started out up in Wesley Chapel and did open this location until just recently. We had a pint of the Dead Parrot lager and Rollin’ Dirty irish red ale. The Parrot reminded us of Corona with a lime & salty finish and the red ale was pretty tasty.

Ology Brewing – Tampa, FL

So you could say in past year, there has been a round of “musical breweries”. Last time we were at this location, it was Angry Chair Brewing and we just left Angry Chair which used to be Brew Bus Brewing. So the run down is that Brew Bus moved up to Wesley Chapel, Angry Chair took over the Brew Bus location and Ology took over the Angry Chair location. Got it? Now, on to the beer. We started with the Atlantic Anomaly and an Incidental Rewards, both which were hazy IPA’s. They were AWESOME. They even have a sister distillery that make cream liqueur. Everything was so good that we took a to-go package of Atlantic Anomaly, Backwards Math hazy DIPA and Birthday Cake creme liqueur.

Olde Florida Brewing – Largo, FL

Don’t let the picture fool ya! This is probably one of the most non-brewery, brewery we’ve been to. The menu offers over two-dozen beers but only 3 are theirs: one blonde and two sours. Whoever owns this place needs to go back to brewers college. We had their blonda and the guest beer Florida Ave Dead Parrot. The beers were OK but the Brazilian food was better.
