Studebaker Brewing – South Bend, IN

Sunday funday! It’s hard to believe that we have never hit any breweries here in SB considering its only a 30 minute drive from our basecamp. Housed in the historic Tippecanoe Place (formally the Studebaker mansion) built in the late 1880’s, the architecture of the building is unbelievable. The landmark restaurant has been around as long as I can remember and its a respected place to dine in northern Indiana. We had an Avanti red ale and an ESB which were a light yet flavorful start to our day drinking. For those of you who are car-buffs like us, you will understand the name Studebaker and Avanti!

Blockhead Beerworks – Valparaiso, IN

This Lego-themed brewery & restaurant is one of a kind. They offer a dozen beers and a great selection of Asian food. We drank their Wormburner hazy pale lager and their Half Day Friend hazy IPA along with the Crab Rangoon. Then, we had a couple of shrimp & bacon bao buns washed down with an ESB and Shaolin Shakedown west coast DIPA. Everything was awesome!

Ironwood Brewing – Valparaiso, IN

Now this is our kinda brewery. Located downtown in a small, 1950’s bungalo house, the tap room is the living room of the house and only has seating for 18. The beers are brewed in the attached one car garage. This places is great – full of locals drinking beers from their menu of only 8. We enjoyed the English Bob ESB and the Cricket IPA.

Hidden Gate Brewing – Greensboro, NC

We visited all the breweries here in town back in 2021 but this place opened up a couple of months ago. Located along a side street next to the railroad tracks, this small tap room offers a dozen and a half nice beers. I tried the Dope Coast west coast IPA which was a nice ending to a long day of work.

Wanderlinger Brewing – Chattanooga, TN

Sheesh – where do we start. Live music, polar bear head, kayak, chandelier, local artwork and of course, a female beertender with hairy armpits. We had a pint of 100 Day IPA and a Wanderbar german pils – both were very good.

Odd Story Brewing – Chattanooga, TN

An odd story indeed. After coming away dry from the last place, this tap room is bustling with activity and yes, beer. We quickly ordered a Cloud Walker pale ale and a Monkey’s Heart IPA then sat at a bartop and watched the patron browse the craft show event.

Mad Knight Brewing – Chattanooga, TN

Swing and a miss! This creepy tap room is located in the basement of an old building that is really difficult to find. Once we entered, there was no one around – including a beertender. We stuck around for a few minutes hoping someone would come along and pour us a couple of beers but no luck!

Dade City Brewhouse – Dade City, FL

Dade City is a quaint little town with only one brewery so we checke ‘er out! Live music and a decent kitchen next door, we drank a pint of Lack of Creativity amber ale and Drop The Plow pale ale. Both beers were good but the band was iffy.
