It’a a melancholy day after saying goodby to our lifelong family friend, Stan. After a morning of viewing at the funeral home, a catholic mass, graveside honors by the military then a lunchoen back at the church, we headed toward the airport and decided to stop for the night on the IL-IN boarder. It just so happens there are a few breweries in the area so we thought we would check a few out and reflect on the day. This brewery is conveniently located just off I-94 at the Kennedy Ave interchange. We popped in for a Goldblatz golden ale and a Mango Milkshake IPA alon with their homemade chips and bluecheese dip. Yummy!

It was still early after hitting one brewery after landing at ORD so we decided to go for a second another 20 minutes toward Indiana. This place has nearly two dozen beers ready to quench your thirst (or warm your heart on this chilly evening). We jumped in on a Crank It Hop german IPA and a Crank It Dank west coast IPA. Pretty tasty! The brewmaster even hooked us up with a bunch of tasters of his sours and seasonals. Awesome beers!

We landed during rush-hour so we decided to stop at a brewery about 20 minutes from the airport. We were delighted to find this nice, local brewery with a good line-up of beers and food. We had a Go To Helles lager and a Freudian Trip vienna lager along with their famous burger. Everything was great!

Stop #2 on this Sunday funday brings us to another new brewery that opened only 10 months ago here on Florida Ave. This street is a popular bar & restaurant location for the Seminole Heights neighborhood. We rolled in and ordered a Refractive Error hazy IPA and Karate Yelling west coast IPA. We now have a new favorite local brewery!

Hello tap-heads! We haven’t visited any new breweries in a while but found this one about 45 minutes from home so we headed up here for a little Sunday funday. This fine establishment has been open a little over a year and offers well over a dozen varieties of tasty beer. After much debate, we finally settled on a Pille Pale pils and an It’s All In The Hips hazy IPA. Both beers were a very good start to our long-overdue day drinking afternoon.

While we didn’t actually visit the brewery because it burned down during thw wildfire, we did drink the last of their beer at a local watering hole called Taps & Hops. The bartender told us the keg was the last one he would ever get from this brewery so we had to try Lahaini Haze IPA. It is a 2019 gold medal winner and it shows – the beer was phenominal. Too bad they were lost in the fires and hopefully rebuild some day

So they finally opened another brewery in Kauai and we were excited. We decided to take a road trip to the other side of the island and check it. I’s got a fairly large brew house but only offer four beers so we went with a Poi Pounding german pils and a Marzen Octoberfest. The beertender said they have only been open a couple of months and are ramping up operations. The beer was good and the cheese & pretzels were tasty!

So we were confused upon arriving here expecting to find a tap room for the brewery but what we found was the Four Green Fields irish pub. Four Greens used to be in the SoHo District the last time we visited about 10 years ago but we were informed by the stoned bartender Rachael that they moved to this location about 5 years ago. They actually moved the bar and everything trying to replicate the historic site as much as possible. We kicked off with a couple of pints of Killkinney and some smoked salmon for a snack. Being that this is a craft beer blog, we couldn’t leave without trying the beer that’s brewed just next door but doesn’t have an actual tap room. The IPA was awesome!

We were delighted to arrive at this nice little tap room after our experience at the last one. Offering a solid list of traditional beers, we opted for a couple of pints of Bottom Time vienna lager and Delta Pils german pilsner to wash down our food truck cheesesteak. Yum!
