Barley Creek Brewing – Tannersville, PA

Claimimg to have been established in 1995, this expansive brewery “campus” has not only a main brewery/restaurant but also an “events center” located on the hill which includes an open-air banquet area with a bar as well as outdoor activities area. The main building has a chalet feeling with loud overhead music. Featuring over a dozen house brews and a half dozen Guest beers, we tried the Navigator Golden Ale and the CB-50 Golden Lager. Both were very good with a flavorful start and a smooth, sweet finish. After enjoying one of their delicious brick-oven pizzas, we hung out and had a another round of beers trying the Antler Brown Ale and the Angler Black Lager – both very good!

Pocono Brewing – Swiftwater, PA

This brewery has changed hands a few times over the years due to its poor performance. Currently undergoing a renovation whereas the new owners are adding a brewhouse (formally they didn’t brew onsite), we didn’t get to try any beers but they are scheduled to reopen on June 13th. When we stopped in, they were hosting a private party for the local school bus drivers.

Kennett Brewing – Kennett Square, PA

What a cool tap room! Located in the basement of the brewery, the friendly & helpful staff serve up some great beers along with some tasty snacks. Live bluegrass compliments the whole experience! We indulged in the Kidd XX lager & Wee Wobbly scottish schilling and admittedly felt a little “wobbly” leaving due to the elevated ABV’s for both.

Levante Brewing – West Chester, PA

Classic tasting room with a great variety of beers located in a commercial manufacturing building. We drank the Atomspheric Perspective pilsner and the Kolibri Kolsch. Both beers were smooth but complex with the kolsch actually having a hint of what tasted like buttered popcorn. The pils leaned more toward an IPA with some medium hops notes.

Victory Brewing – Downingtown, PA

The “original” craft brewery opening in 1996, this place sets the bar for all others. Offering a huge variety for every taste, we had the Summer Love and Unity Kolsch. Both beers were very smooth with nice finishes. Obviously, this brewery is a large operation distributing their beers all over the country.

Conshohocken Brewing – Bridgeport, PA

Located in an old wallpaper retail building, this brewery has a modern industrial vibe with a nice selection of small-batch beers. While not actually brewing their beer onsite (brewed across the river), their is an actual food truck inside that used to be parked outside the building.

Dover International Speedway

Known as the Monster Mile, we went back to dry-camping ouside Turn 1 after having the luxury of two weeks of full hook-ups in Charlotte. Conditions were less than perfect due to the amount of rain leading up to race weekend but we were surrounded by enthusiastic race fans that made the 5 days here a lot of fun. Who said people in Delaware aren’t as friendly as folks in the South? The speedway even had a hotel and casino reminiscent of our 3 years in Las Vegas.

Blue Earl Brewing – Smyrna, DE

Maybe we hit this place on a bad night but the service was slow and the place was filled with an older crowd. Perhaps it was AARP night! Even though the bartender focused on her paperwork instead of serving customers, we beer was pretty decent. We had the Reflection lager and the Shining Star hefe. The tasting room has a music theme and the brewery is named after the owner/ brewmaster Earl who is a former blues musician.

Back Bay Brewery – Virginia Beach

Small, duck-themed brewery located just minutes from the beach. Serving 8 brews made right onsite within the tasting room, we tried the Croatan cream ale and the Steel Pier lager – botj ver tasty!
