Jackalope Brewing – Nashville, TN

This is another tasting room that only has outside seating but that is perfectly fine with us on this beautiful Sunday afternoon. Quenching our thirsts with a Sarka pils and a Bearwalker brown ale, both beers were outstanding as we sat as listened to the Bluegrass music & thinking about Grandma Mitchell.

Tailgate Brewery – Nashville, TN

This hip taproom has almost 30 beers on their menu along with excellent appetizers and pizza. The joint is soley-owned and operated by one guy with his own money and not investors. We kicked off the afternoon with a Tailgate Lager & an Irish Red and some delicious Siracha chips to snack on.

Little Harpeth Brewing – Nashville, TN

The four of us made our way to the 2nd stop of the day bringing us to an old industrial building housing the brewing operations and the tasting room which was outfitted with a live-music stage and some mellow-groovy music playing overhead. It doesn’t appear there has been any live performances here in quite a while. The stage looked more like a storage platform and there was a jetski parked where people would probably dance. We hastily drank the Bison Vienna lager and their award winning Deer Crossing Helles since it was unconfortably warm due to the lack of air conditioning in the building.

Honky Tonk Brewing – Nashville, TN

So 2017 was the last time we were here in Music and visited 9 breweries that were in close proximity to downtown. This trip has brought not only more breweries that have opened since 2017 but also our “drinking buddies” Brian and Melissa from Tampa. They recently bought and 5th-wheel and met up with us on their way to Wyoming. Our 1st stop brought us to an eclectic tasting room with mismatched chairs, a vintage foosball table and ten beers to choose from. We opted for the Oslo Pils and King Bee blonde ale which were a good start to some day drinking.

Bad Tom Smith Brewing – Cincinnati, OH

Located in the up & coming area of town know as the Madisonville district, this tap room is remote from the actual brewing operations located in a different part of town. The tap room was formally an old bank with the safe still front and center in the bar. We bellied up and ordered the Breathitt County blonde ale and the Preachers Marzen lager. Both were exceptional and were a nice finish to our short visit to Cincinnati.

50 West Brewing – Cincinnati, OH

This is by far the biggest brewery themed destination we have ever been to. This place is huge and has everything from food to volleyball to canoeing. Live music, tents, plenty of seating all orbiting around the brewery. Nestled along Route 50 and the Little Miami River, this adult playground has entertainment for the masses. We tried their American lager and the Main Street amber ale for staters then moved on to the Low Beam pale ale to complement our Illinois Chicken and Ohio Dog. Yum!

Yellow Bridge Brewing – Delmont, PA

Our last stop of the day and probably the Pittsburgh area, we rolled into this microbrewery with high hopes for a “hat trick” of good beers for the day. BOOM! Jackpot! Another round of great beers with the Brown Ale and Pils. On top of it all, we got to talk dogs with the friendly beer-tender and she talked us into getting a 4-pack of their Living Easy IPA. Next stop: Cincinnati!

Devout Brewing – Export, PA

So this was supposed to be our 1st stop of the day but was definitely worth the wait. Located in a remote business park just outside of town, we ordered up a Clurichaun red ale & American Gold wheat, unfolded our camping chairs and enjoyed the picturesque view of the countryside in the shade from the side of the building allowing our legs to extend out to get some much needed color. The tranquil setting with exceptional beers made for a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Sobel’s Obscure Brewery – Jeannette, PA

Our 1st stop of the day was supposed to be the next brewery but like yesterday, we stumbled upon this one along the way. I’m starting to think Google Maps knows what we are up to? So we swung into what they are calling a “pop up” tasting room which is just a bunch of tents on the field next door. We were impressed with the smooth flavors of the Maple Brown ale and the Highborne Hefe. Thanks Maps!

Burgh’ers Brewing – Pittsburgh, PA

So this one was a little risky since the name sounded like burgers. Yep, it was a burger joint/brewery in the heart the downtown. We were curious enough to give it a shot and had their 1890 Lager and Nubbel Kolsch along with their Rosemary fries. Pretty good combination as the fries!
